“We found Joey last year when we were looking for someone to care for our toddler during labor and help us navigate this new chapter as we welcomed our second child. From the very first meeting, we immediately knew we had found the right person in Joey. They radiate warmth and kindness, and they clicked straight away with our toddler, taking their time to get to know them and always adapting to their pace and temperament.
In the weeks leading up to the birth, we had several sessions together so Joey could really understand us, our toddler, and our routine. They even spent time alone playing with our child, which helped build trust and confidence. It was great to see how comfortable and happy our toddler felt with them.
Joey was on call for us from 38 weeks onwards, which gave us incredible reassurance. We wanted someone we could call at any time, even in the middle of the night, and knowing they were ready whenever labor started brought such peace of mind.
I was very nervous about leaving our toddler with someone else and worried I would be distracted during labor, constantly wondering if he was safe and happy. Joey completely took that worry away. Knowing they were with him allowed me to stay present during what turned out to be a long and difficult labor. They spent two nights with him, handled nursery runs and evenings, and made sure his routine stayed as steady and comforting as possible.
Their previous experience working in a childcare gave us enormous confidence, and the fact that they are also a doula was an absolute bonus. It meant they truly understood the birthing process, its unpredictability, and the emotions that come with it, which made them even more supportive and adaptable throughout the experience.
